It was a popular "sleeper" sports car in the early 1990's. Honda produced it (thought American audiences only saw the Acura variant) and it disappeared at the turn of the century. Well fans, The Honda NSX is back, supposedly.

And why not give sports cars another shot, especial those from Honda? They are producing the fuel efficient 2012 Honda CR-Z hybrid, which is already in its second year at DCH Honda of Temecula. You can bet any coupe from the auto maker will be sporty and green.

"We need a halo car," Honda's design manager Yoshikazu Kigoshi told UK TV series TopGear, "and this is a decision that's come from Ito-san down. A new S2000 is a difficult car for us to do, because of its front-engined, rear-drive platform. But we are definitely looking at the EV-ster and a new NSX."1

Kigoshi confirmed that EV-ster will use a new platform, and will be offered with a choice of gas or purely electric power. EV-ster will replace a traditional steering wheel with TLS: 'twin lever steering' that is typically seen on F1 race cars.

Back to the NSX, which will get the auto maker's new SH-AWD torque vectoring system. This set up uses independent electric motors on its rear wheels to optimize cornering.
