Following the earthquake and tsunami, which struck Japan on March 11, Honda established a special online site dedicated to channeling donations from Honda and Acura dealers, and Honda motorcycle and power equipment dealers to the American Red Cross. Honda has since opened the site to the public. So now, customers, suppliers and others may also participate in the Japan disaster recovery efforts as well.
"We are making this special website available for contributions based on the outpouring of support and messages of sympathy and concern we have received from so many friends of Honda," says Stephen Morikawa, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Community Relations, American Honda. "We are humbled and deeply appreciative of the concern shown for our Japanese associates, their families, and all of those affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami."1
The Honda family of companies in North America has committed to matching its associates' personal donations on a dollar-for-dollar basis. A few weeks ago, Honda Motor Co. Ltd. in Japan announced they'd provide 1,000 generators and $3.7 million toward the relief and recover effort.
DCH Honda of Temecula would like to note this is not Honda's first alliance with the Red Cross. The company has supported the Red Cross throughout numerous disaster relief efforts via cash, products, and in-kind donations. If you're interested in making a donation to the relief efforts in Japan, you may do so now at http://american.redcross.org/hondaacura-emp. And, on behalf of everyone at Honda: Thank you.
