Interested in a fuel-efficient hybrid?
With the price of gas these days, we here at DCH Honda of Temecula are guessing more than a few of you out there are. And while drivers in the greater Temecula area certainly love models like the Civic Hybrid and Insight, there's currently no electrified mid-size fuel sipper in the new Honda lineup.
That, however, is now set to change this fall. Honda has officially announced the 2014 Accord Hybrid and Accord Plug-In Hybrid, with the former arriving later this year and the latter shortly after.
Being the first two vehicles to use the Japanese automaker's unique two-motor hybrid system, it's become increasingly clear lately that producing both models is a rather tall order. That's why we are happy to hear that Honda has elected to produce the 2014 Accord Hybrid here in the United States.
Honda is currently working on a 95,000 square-foot expansion at its plant in Ohio to accommodate the machinery it will take to produce the forthcoming Accord Hybrid. This will result in the creation of 50 jobs as well. The big question on everyone's mind upon hearing this, of course, is whether or not this also means the Accord Plug-In Hybrid will be manufactured in the United States.
It would seem logical to say so; however, nothing has been confirmed at this time. Honda only mentioned gearing up for the Accord Hybrid, and we here at DCH Honda of Temecula wouldn't be shocked to hear that the Plug-In version requires even more additional machinery. In the long run, though, may be a worthwhile investment for Honda to make as it's been producing the Accord in Ohio for over 30 years.
Of course, this is pure speculation. For the real answer, everyone at 26755 Ynez Road - Temecula, CA 92591 simply invites you to stay tuned to our Honda blog by subscribing via your RSS reader.
