April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to recognize that we each can play a part in promoting the social and emotional well being of children and families in communities.  

To support local efforts to help battered and abused children and youth, DCH Honda of Temecula will make a donation to Rancho Damacitas Children's Homes for every new Honda purchased in the month of April 2013.

 

Founded 30 years ago, Rancho Damacitas is a residential treatment center for battered and abused children and youth located in the Temecula Valley. Rancho Damacitas Children's Homes have been standing in the gap for children victimized by child abuse and neglect. They take in children who have suffered from the crime of child abuse and who have little hope of escaping the psychological torment and pattern of violence that they have lived with, many from the time they were born and give them a safe home to live in and healing services.  Rancho Damacitas is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that facilitates physical and emotional healing, recovery, and a new beginning to children and youth ranging in age from six to eighteen.

In 1989, the Blue Ribbon Campaign to Prevent Child Abuse began as a Virginia grandmother's tribute to her grandson who died as a result of abuse. She tied a blue ribbon to the antenna of her car as a way to remember him and to alert her community to the tragedy of child abuse. The Blue Ribbon Campaign has since expanded across the country; many people wear blue ribbons each April in memory of those who have died as a result of child abuse and in support of efforts to prevent abuse.
